Tamarindo Sea

To my haven in the jungle

Tamarindo you have my heart

To have been lucky enough to have been here twice

Calling it my temporary home and safe space

You have healed me in more ways than once thought possible

Brought me friends who are family

And placed me on path to help others

Returning the favour of the kindness bestowed on me

The sun burns brighter

As does my heart pump blood

Fuelling my body

Adrenaline through the night

I am once again high on life

Dancing on bar tops and singing my heart out

Side questing to the villa

Deemed my island’s casa amor

Eleven Canadian men took over my life

Welcoming me into their lives

Hockey on the TV

And an angel boy in sight

He who doth bestow

Kindness exuding from his shadow

Late night talks and sunrise adventures

A light at the end of the tunnel

I felt the heavyweight vanish

Lifted from my once lifeless body

Daring to dabble once more

Freedom sweeping the night

The slow burn felt electric

Karaoke nights and golf carts

Leading me back to the villa

Kissing in the kitchen light

The thrill of it felt incomparable

I am still captivated by it all

The peace and serenity of the safety

Reigniting my once burned out light

It felt like our souls were tied

Talking ’til the early hours

Locking eyes with one another

Bundled up without fear of the night

It’s like it was all new

A fresh start left speechless

Where the reassurance was given

And I didn’t have to fight

The liberation of it all

Energy, vibrancy and desire

A match made in heaven

Breaking me free from the past taunts

I don’t think about it now

Him before or the trauma I endured

For I am now clean

And healed by the salty waves of the Tamarindo sea
